I'm not making much progress, but I've been getting emails inviting me to career fairs. These seem to be very broad-based: anyone looking for almost any job in the Seattle area.

Are career fairs likely to be useful? I'm looking for editorial work, and willing to consider changing focus or even field, but not into sales.

I have no idea about career fairs in other fields, but last couple times I went to them (I do databases and such), it was just "hey, we exist! Check our website and there may be jobs! Apply for them!" It wasn't very helpful.
