Sunday Open Thread

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Sunday Open Thread! This is a weekly place for open discussion about how things are going right now.

And if you don't have anything going on right now you'd care to talk about, talk about whatever you'd like!

Do you ever find yourself struggling with paranoia irt interview callbacks? Generally of the rather silly, superstitious variety, such as 'because I turned down that offer earlier this year when I was not yet desperate, I am doomed to never get an offer for the rest of the year now that I am?'

While I haven't dealt with exactly that worry, I know what you mean. The job search process is so stressful and so opaque to job searchers that it can seem like the difference between getting and losing a job is down to the power of your lucky silver dollar vs. the other candidate's lucky rabbit foot, or whether you remembered to do your favorite good luck ritual before leaving the house that morning. And most of the time we'll never know what the deciding factor was in our case unless we get the job offer, and often not even then. It sucks, and I'm sorry those anxieties are troubling you.
