I suddenly realized that there are only three weeks left in my semester. I get paid through the end of the summer (for which I am very grateful), but I don't have any more work to go to after the end of the semester.

So what do I do next? I don't like this looming limbo.

I was three quarters of the way through a job app yesterday and then I found out that in the two weeks between my finding the listing and the job's listed deadline, the job had ceased to exist.

How are you guys doing?

Oh man. Magically vanishing job apps. Those are painful. :(

For your gap, is there something you've always wanted to do? Volunteer, clean out the $PLACE, make a scrapbook, etc?

I'm going to start serious work on turning my dissertation into a book. It's what I have to do to become the kind of scholar I want to be anyway, and in the possible event I end up unemployed, it would be the work I'd want to continue doing for a year or so while I try again on the job market.

I'm really frustrated that I am having a hard time just finding job postings. That I can't figure out what I am doing with my life and what I want to do with it. It makes me feel like all I am qualified for is wasting away.
